A TRESPASSER was caught running through the garden of retired county councillor Anna Fenlon after her concerned children erected security cameras to deter potential burglars.
The male was apprehended by the former Fine Gael local representative’s son John (Rocky) a short distance away from the family home in Wolfe Tone Villas.
He was running through back gardens of a number of homes as he made a hurried exit from the estate.
Mrs Fenlon noticed a figure moving through the garden and alerted her son who chased after the culprit.
The incident, which was caught on camera, was subsequently reported to Wexford Garda Station.
Since the death of her husband the late John Fenlon Snr., Anna Fenlon’s children had taken a number of measures to make the property secure, CCTV cameras were part of this.
Mrs Fenlon wished to clarify that the individual had not attempted to break-in to her home. But she claims that there was something sinister about the incident.
“I wouldn’t say that he was running, but he was doing a fair trot. He was using our garden as a regress from Wolfe Tone Villas,” she said.
Afterwards, the family contacted neighbours in the houses behind them and one man told them that he had seen the man in his garden also.
The incident comes in the wake of a spate of burglaries in homes across Wexford town over the festive period.
