Anyone taking to the roads this morning is being urged to take extra care.

A wind warning is in place for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo while a snow and ice warning is in place across the country.

Met Éireann has said icy patches are expected to be a particular issue despite winds of up to 100 km per hour overnight.

Power supply may also be an issue this morning in some parts after 10,000 premises were without electricity yesterday as a result of storm Gertrude.
