The Green party will unveil its health policy today in which it calls for more community care.
The plan would see lower level decision making and a roll out of more community nursing programmes.
Psychologist and spokesperson on health Oisin Ó hAlmhain has said it is about putting patients first: “Well what we would like to do is put the patient back at the centre of health care.
“Our Green principle is to have decisions made at the lowest possible level and we think that care should be delivered at the lowest possible level.
“That means in the community and that is what works best for patients and family is when you put them in control and give them the power.”
