Cllr Malcolm Byrne’s election campaign has entered top gear in recent weeks and he has been out and about in the rural districts of North Wexford campaigning on a grand scale, however, friends and family rallied together for a fundraising reception and gala dinner held in the Amber Springs Hotel, Gorey.
It was the culmination of Cllr Byrne’s fundraising campaign, and it was a pleasant occasion devoid of triumphalism going forward, but aimed at plotting his campaign on the pathway to Dail Éireann .
Cllr Byrne explained why he is in politics. “I don’t come from a party political tradition, my mother never wanted me to get involved or to run for an election, but politics is important, and it matters because it involves decisions that affect so many aspects of our lives.
The Gorey-based candidate was introduced by his Director of Elections, Cllr Joe Sullivan, who explained the purpose of the function, and stated it was the first time since 1989 that Gorey has had a Fianna Fáil candidate, and he described Cllr Malcolm Byrne as “a young, articulate, bright, intelligent and informed candidate”, and he reckoned that the reaction on the doorsteps are seeing that.
“We are getting a very good reaction on the doorsteps and Malcolm Byrne is ideally placed to represent the people and is the best option for the people of North Wexford, and the more people that are out promoting Malcolm Byrne as the future TD for North Wexford the better.”
Cllr Sullivan thanked a large number of supporters who stepped up to the mark Full report in this week’s edition of THE GOREY ECHO.
