Unfortunately for Enniscorthy, however, the town is unlikely to feature in the new TV series as it will focus on the boarding house where screen veteran Julie Walters stole the show as Mrs Keogh, the hardnosed-but-heart-of-gold landlady.
Film industry publication Screen Daily broke the story saying that Brooklyn’s Oscar-nominated producers, Finola Dwyer and Amanda Posey, are developing a series which focusing on the boarding house.
The producers are said to be confident that Julie Walters will reprise her role in the show, which is due to focus on the same group of young women from the movie, however, it is unlikely that Saoirse Ronan will appear once again as Eilis Lacey on the small screen.
The producers have said that plans will be put in place once Brooklyn has finished its current run in cinemas and the DVD campaign was complete.
