The versatile player, who played in attack and at midfield for Kerry, also won three National League medals and three Munster senior medals playing for his county.
At a local level he was a three-time Kerry senior football champion with East Kerry in 1965, 1968 and 1969.
Kerry GAA put up an announcement this morning of his death and reminded people of his former glory with a clip of “one of the most celebrated goals in the history of All Ireland football finals” which secured a 22nd title for the Kingdom.
