The Tánaiste has refused to say if she would step down as Labour leader if they get just 4% support next Friday.

The latest Behaviour and Attitudes opinion poll of 1,026 people for the Sunday Times shows Labour on just 4%.

It was carried out on Monday and Tuesday last week.

Joan Burton has said that she is a fighter and that the Labour rebound from these figures will surprise people.

The Tánaiste said she does not agree that it looks likely her party will not be returned to Government.

“We have three polls coming out this weekend, we also have the ultimate poll on Friday and the response that our candidates have been getting, has been very strong.

“A lot of people have decisions to make, first of all I want to see everybody coming out to vote, that is very important for our democracy.”
