Luas drivers and their employers will attend talks today aimed at avoiding further strikes at the company.

They have been invited to the Workplace Relations Commission to outline both sides of the pay row.

Two 48 hour strikes have already taken place and further industrial action is set for Tuesday March 8 and St Patrick's Day.

Transdev and workers' representatives will attend separate hearings and SIPTU's Owen Reidy's hopeful it will lead to full talks: “And we welcome that opportunity.

“We look forward to our analysis of the dispute and the problems that we face with the Workplace Relations Commission and we hope Transdev do likewise.

“And we hope it does chart the way forward for a talks process, because at the end of the day the only way this dispute will be resolved is through dialogue.”
