Cadbury’s staff in Dublin will go on strike next week.
Yesterday SIPTU and Unite served strike notice on the company, Mondelez, and will down tools at the Coolock plant next Thursday at 7am.
The dispute centres on a recent Labour Court recommendation to outsource 17 jobs in the factory’s stores section.
Richie Browne from Unite has said the workers had no other option but to strike; “If they don’t they will source the stores.
“We were willing to engage with them to achieve cost savings, productivity flexibilities and additional efficiencies in relation to the area that’s affected.
"And we are willing to negotiate and talk to the company in relation to that, but they haven’t taken us up on that offer.”
