Outgoing Fine Gael TD John Perry has been excluded on the ninth count in the Sligo-Leitrim constituency.

Mr Perry took a case against Fine Gael to be added to the party's ticket after failing in his attempts to be selected at the party's selection convention.

The case was subsequently settled and he was added to the party ticket last December.

Speaking at the count today - the former junior Minister said he didn't know if his High Court case impacted on the vote.

"Well obviously you win some, you lose some," he said. "That's what politics is all about.

"I think that beyond that, I couldn't have given it any greater in-depth analysis beyond that, to be honest."
