Junior Minister Simon Harris has said the newly elected TDs must now act 'like grown ups'.

Speaking at the conclusion of the Wicklow Count, Simon Harris said he was prepared to play his part in forming the next government regardless of how that government is made up.

"We're going back to the Dáil, a very different Dáil, a fragmented Dáil.

"There's a duty and onus on all of us in the Dáil now to act as grown ups.

"The people of Ireland have made their decision they've dealt us our cards and now we have to play the cards that they've dealt us.

"I look forward to playing a constructive role in the coming weeks and trying to ensure that we can put a government in place regardless of what that ends up looking like."
