The Taoiseach has said it is still very early days in terms of deciding the make-up of the next Government.

Enda Kenny said he will await the final results of the election before he calls his party together to make any decisions on what to do next.

He said whatever happens the Fine Gael party would still be a significant block in the next Dail.

Enda Kenny said it was his job as Taoiseach to ensure the country had a stable government: “So I want to wait and see what the eventual outcome will be and then look at all the options that are open to me as Taoiseach and Head of Government.

“I need to call my colleagues together, I need to call my parliamentary colleagues together, my colleagues in Government together and talk about a number of issues there.”
