Storm Jake has brought wintry and windy conditions.

A wind warning is in place for the entire county until 10am this morning.

A snow and ice alert was in effect earlier this morning, with snow reported on higher ground in parts of Connacht, Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal.

Forecaster with Met Éireann Siobhan Ryan, has said although the effects of Storm Jake are due to ease as the morning goes on, there is still a chance of further wintry showers later on: “I mean there is still going to be further showers, being fed down in that kind of strong northerly wind, it is really going to be very windy for the rest of the day, there is very little let up.

“The only thing it might do is brighten up mid-morning and the showers may not be quite as heavy, but looking at the radar at the moment there is widespread heavy clumps of thundery downpours across the country.

“There will be dryer, clearer weather this evening but there is always going to be the risk of showers.”
