A new survey shows one in three Irish employees do not feel appreciated in their workplace.
A new report by the National Standards Authority of Ireland shows, 73% of workplaces don't organise regular team building activities - while 21% say they don't believe their employers are conscious of health and safety in the workplace.
The NSAI has said companies are loosing money by failing to recognise simple steps they can take to retain their staff.
Michelle Browne of the body's Excellence Through People scheme has said firms need to start recognising there are financial benefits in treating their staff better: “The cost of recruitment versus the cost of training, there can be a vast difference there.
“And our survey suggest there are a lot of people out there who don’t feel appreciated in their workplace.
“So if those people could feel appreciated they wouldn’t be leaving and the organisation would be ultimately saving money.”
