A woman has died in a car crash in Limerick.

The woman, in her 30s, died following the single-vehicle accident at the Applegreen service station at Coolanoran between Newcastle West and Rathkeale at about 11.30pm last night.

A male passenger and two children - who were in the back seat of the car - were all taken to University Hospital Limerick with non-life-threatening injuries.

Her body has been removed to University Hospital Limerick where a post mortem examination will take place.

A Garda forensic examination of the scene is underway and anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact Newcastle West GardaĆ­.
