Update 3.57pm: A security alert has come to an end after a non-viable device was removed from a home in Dublin this afternoon.

Officers say a replica grenade was discovered in a house under renovation on Lower Kimmage Road shortly before 1pm.

Earlier: Gardaí are attending the scene of a suspect device in Kimmage in Dublin.

Officers say what is believed to be a grenade was discovered in a house under renovation on Lower Kimmage Road shortly before 1pm this afternoon.

The Army Bomb Disposal team have been requested to attend the scene and the house has been sealed off until further notice.
