A Co Louth nursing home has been criticised by HIQA for failing to report allegations of abuse, or to investigate them internally.

Inspectors found major non-compliances in seven of the eight criteria they apply at St Peter's Nursing Home in Castlebellingham.

HIQA has said allegations of abuse were not followed up on in accordance with the facility's own guidelines.

The report follows two visits by inspectors in January, when 39 people were in the care of the home.
