The union representing Luas drivers has said further strike action may be on the cards if Transdev does not start treating its workers with respect.

On Thursday Luas workers announced two further 48-hour strikes next month in an ongoing row over pay rises.

Talks at the WRC are continuing tomorrow, but the drivers claim is not being addressed.

A decision by Transdev to hire in buses during industrial action on St. Patrick’s Day has been met with strong criticism by unions.

SIPTU’s Owen Reidy is accusing the company of disrespecting the tram drivers: “The reality is unless the drivers are treated with a little bit more respect from their employer, where they are facilitated with talks.

“I can see industrial action continuing over the next number of weeks unless we have the opportunity to engage, we want to, we created the conditions to do that last week and the employer walked away from that.”
