A 34-year-old man has been jailed for 13 years for raping a woman with Down syndrome in Dublin.

Faisal Ellahi from Haripur in Pakistan lured the women in her 20s back to his flat, where he attacked her in June 2013.

Judge Tony Hunt said the accused took advantage of the victim and what happened to her was "frightening, appalling and disgusting".

He said years of building up the victim’s independence were blown away for a couple of minutes of instant gratification.

The judge said he hoped the Minister for Justice would remove Ellahi from Ireland once his sentence is complete.

Judge Hunt also said that Ellahi had been “prowling” the streets in search of another woman at the same time as his victim was returning home.
