Talks aimed at resolving the Luas dispute resume at the Workplace Relations Commission today.

It comes ahead of more strike action, set for St Patrick’s Day and over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

Transdev, which operates the Luas, has been criticised by unions for bringing in buses on St Patrick’s Day.

Tram drivers remain outside the talks process, but SIPTU’s Owen Reidy says all workers should be involved.

He said: “The employer has a responsibility here to act responsibly and engage with their own employees.

“This is a company with a lucrative State contract to run a very important piece of infrastructure, this isn’t some corner shop.

“This company has a responsibility to its customers, the only way they can ensure continuity of service is to sit down and negotiate with all of their staff, not some of their staff.”
