Munster head coach Anthony Foley has finally put an end to speculation over his future at the province after accepting the offer a one-year contract extension there.

Munster have also confirmed the reports that they are now actively seeking to recruit a Director of Rugby for next season to assist Foley and his coaching staff.

Foley took over as Munster coach in the summer of 2014 and will continue in the role for the 2016/17 season.

Munster Rugby CEO Garrett Fitzgerald said: "As confirmed previously we offered Anthony the option to extend his contract as per the initial agreement in 2014 and we are pleased to see him avail of this renewal and commit to the province for a further year.

"The decision to seek a Director of Rugby was made at Munster Professional Game Board level in consultation with the IRFU, and is in line with our strategic plan for the organisation."
