Robert Mbithi beat the course record to win a £1,500 bonus in the Vitality Bath Half Marathon at the weekend.

An impressive achievement, only slightly dented by an undignified end to his record-breaking performance.

As the Kenyan crossed the finish line with his arms in the air, he found himself in a tangle with the banner and tumbled to the ground.

The 26-year-old wasn’t hurt in the fall and was more amused than upset, laughing at himself before getting back on his feet.
