The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation has said the HSE and the Department of Health must implement the agreements they reached on addressing hospital overcrowding.

All parties have returned to the WRC to address the ongoing crisis.

The INMO’s daily trolley watch figures show 475 people waiting for hospital beds, with more than 350 of those on trolleys.

The worst affected hospitals today are University Hospital Limerick at 39 and Beaumont in Dublin with 38.

INMO chief Liam Doran has said today is not about negotiation, but about honouring a commitment: “On Monday we had a turf war with the HSE and the Department of Health.

“No one wanting to commit to implementing the agreement they both signed up to.

“So today hopefully, they will simply sign up to do what they said they would do in January, implement all strands of the agreement,

“We welcome the Minister for Health’s comments yesterday, where he said all agreements must be honoured in full.

“So there is no negotiation, the agreement stands, the agreement has to be honoured and that means staff has to be recruited to deal with the crisis in the emergency departments.”
