The Leesiders repeated their President's Cup victory over the defending champions as they came away from Oriel Park with a 1-0 win.
Sean Maguire's 69th minute penalty earned John Caulfield's side a hard-earned three points.

Shamrock Rovers' 100% start to the new season is also at an end after a 2-0 loss to St Pat's in their Dublin derby at the Tallaght Stadium.

Elsewhere, double-goalscorer Nathan Boyle netted a late winner to claim a 2-1 win for Derry City over Galway United at the Brandywell.
And Bohemians battled to a 3-3 draw against Wexford Youths at Dalymount Park.
Wexford led on three occasions but Bohs levelled each time, with a Mark Quigley penalty two minutes from time securing a share of the spoils.

In the First Division, Waterford United beat their hosts UCD 3-1 at Belfield and there were draws between Shelbourne and Cabinteely (2-2) at Tolka Park and between Drogheda United and Athlone Town (1-1).
