The Dáil has adjourned until April 6 after debating a number of issues, including the homelessness crisis.

Talks are continuing on the formation of a government - with a vote for Taoiseach to take place the next time the Dáil sits.

Deputies called for a dedicated cabinet minister for housing, while acting Taoiseach Enda Kenny said he wants to see an Action Plan for Housing.

Deputy Kenny said it's their job as elected officials to solve the problem.

"There are many frightened people, frightened about the next rent review, the next mortgage payment, their prospects of ever owning their own home.

"It is our duty as national legislators to propose and debate a constructive way forward, to alleviate their fear and not to trade off it."
