Extraordinary coverage of the 1916 Centenary Commemoration in this week’s Wexford Echo Group of Newspapers.

Thousands of people attended the  State centenary of the 1916 Easter Rising in Enniscorthy where the official welcoming speech was delivered by Cathaoirleach, Enniscorthy Municipal District Council, Cllr Paddy Kavanagh.

There was a special welcome for all the relatives of those who participated in the 1916 Rising who were in attendance, some who had travelled long distances to be present on such an historical occasion.

Cllr Kavanagh said the 1916 Rising in County Wexford was the most significant event outside Dublin in terms of longevity, the numbers involved and the extent of the territorial control exercised.

Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, Brendan Howlin, T.D, delivered the keynote speech.

Unrivalled coverage in words and pictures in this week’s Wexford Echo Group of Newspapers.
