A man in his 40’s has died, and another man has been seriously injured following a workplace accident at Casey Concrete, Coolishall, near Gorey.

It is understood that the dead man has worked there for about twenty years.

Both men are from the locality.

The incident occurred in a quarry at the plant shortly after 3 pm today.

The man’s body has been removed to Waterford Regional Hospital where a post mortem examination will be carried out.

Gardaí have preserved the scene and the Health and Safety Authority will conduct an investigation into the incident.
