Derry City have gone top of the table in the Airtricity League Premier Division.

The Candystripes hammered Shamrock Rovers 3-0 tonight at the Brandywell after goals from Ronan Curtis, Harry Monaghan and a penalty from Rory Patterson.

Cork City salvaged a 1-1 draw against Wexford Youths at Turners Cross after Mark O'Sullivan scored an 83rd minute equaliser for the Leesiders.

The Wexford newcomers had taken the lead thanks to Eric Molloy's first-half goal.

Galway United were 1-0 winners over Finn Harps – Vinny Faherty on target for Galway – while it finished 1-1 between St Pat's and Sligo Rovers at Richmond Park, with Christy Fagan cancelling out Sligo defender Gary Boylan’s first-half goal.

In the First Division, Athlone Town fought-back from three goals down to claim a 3-3 draw with 10-man Waterford United.

Elsewhere, Limerick hammered their hosts Drogheda United 3-0 while UCD and Cobh Ramblers were 2-1 winners away from home against Shelbourne and Cabinteely respectively.
