The mixed weather we've had for the last few days is set to come to an end this weekend - only to be replaced by the more "plain-awful" variety.
At the moment, there are two bands of rain making their way across the country - so if it’s not raining where you are now, it probably will be later.

And it’s going to get worse, starting tonight, with thunderstorms, a sharp to severe frost and heavy rain, hail or sleet expected.
Met Éireann says the west will suffer the worst of the showers, with some thunderstorms predicted.
The weekend forecast offers little respite. A massive area of low pressure is moving in from the west, bringing plenty of cold, damp weather with it.

Met Éireann’s forecast offers “some sunny spells”, before a grim prediction of “further showers … many heavy and some of hail, with sleet on hills and a few thundery downpours”. Ouch.
Saturday night could bring “a widespread hard frost and some icy roads” too, with temperatures as low as -3C.
Sunday is looking particularly miserable, with some heavy rain and strong winds on the way.
Met Éireann says that wet and windy weather will develop over the south and east during early afternoon and “will then push up on through the rest of these provinces and into Connacht later, with some sleet in places”.
The Sunday outlook for the UK could hardly be more different, as this frustratingly upbeat BBC weatherman shows us.
