
More than 7,500 people are taking part in the 14th Spar Great Ireland Run in the Phoenix Park in Dublin today.
Thousands of spectators cheered on athletes like Irish Olympian and Rio 2016 qualifier Fionnuala McCormack around the 10-kilometre course.

Dublin motorists are reminded that Chesterfield Avenue is closed between Mountjoy and the Phoenix Monument until 4:30pm to facilitate the event.

Separately, World Parkinson's Awareness Day is being celebrated by a Unity walk in Dublin, which began at noon.
The event is being organised by the Parkinson's Association of Ireland which wants to promote physiotherapy in the treatment of the disease.
The walk started at the Davenport Hotel and journey around Merrion Square Park.

Gillian Quinn, senior physiotherapist in Neurology at St. Vincent’s University Hospital said physiotherapy can be beneficial at all stages of the disease.
