Viewers could be forgiven for thinking the latter after seeing this brutal spear tackle in a US high school soccer game.

Pine Forest goalkeeper Cassie Sturtz wasn’t willing to take any chances when an opponent was through on goal.

She ran out beyond the penalty area, completely ignored the ball and absolutely cannoned into the oncoming striker.

Her opponent was laid out on the pitch by the outrageous tackle and although she wasn’t sent off at the time, Sturtz has reportedly received a suspension for the incident.

But SBNation also report she is being scouted by the University of Alabama.
