New Government figures show that one more family became homeless every day in February.

The figures from the Department of the Environment show that 3,105 people were homeless in the last week of February, when the General Election took place.

That represents an increase of almost 3% in just one month.

Some 1,881 of the homeless people were children, while 600 were single parents.

Over two-thirds of the people are based in Dublin.
