The bomb squad has been called to the scene of what is believed to be a car containing explosives in Dublin tonight.

The vehicle was stopped by the Emergency Response Unit on the Naas Road, just before the Long Mile Road junction, at approximately 7.30pm.

Two men in their early 30’s and 40’s were arrested and have been detained by Gardaí.

The road remains closed while the bomb squad examines the car and officers secure the scene.
