Enda Kenny is absolutely desperate to be re-elected Taoiseach, according to Fianna Fáil’s Willie O’Dea.
The Limerick TD also said today that Fine Gael fear a “stampede of Independents” supporting Micheál Martin for Taoiseach.
The Dáil will sit for the third time this afternoon in an attempt to vote for a Taoiseach – with no decisive outcome expected.
Mr O’Dea said that Fine Gael fear a rush of support for Micheál Martin today.
“It shows how much they fear a stampede of Independents to support Fianna Fáil,” he said.
“I mean, obviously Enda Kenny … it appears to me that Enda Kenny is absolutely desperate to become the first Fine Gael person to be re-elected as Taoiseach.
“But I think he’s way off the beam about this.”
