A NEW musical society in County Wexford will be launched next month.

The Little Sea Musical Society will be unveiled at a special event in Tir na n’Og, Wellingtonbridge, on Wednesday, May 11, at 8 p.m.

The organisation is inviting all lovers of musical drama to the event where the members will showcase some pieces they have been working on since mid-February.

There will be a raffle during the launch in aid of funds towards next year’s production.

A spokesperson of the society told the Echo that the name of the organisation is a nod towards the area from which most of the members originate.

“It’s been named ‘The Little Sea Musical Society’ as the Little Sea refers to part of Bannow Bay which connects the areas from which members congregate,” she said.

“The society is based in the Kiltra School of Music which is run by Robert and Angela Mahon,” she added.

“Their generosity in providing their facilities and musical expertise is greatly appreciated.”

As part of the launch night members of the public are being invited to enter a photography competition for which photos should be taken in, or of, Bannow Bay or ‘The Little Sea’.

“The winning photograph will be used by the society for its promotional material,” said the spokesperson.

Entries can be submitted by email to [email protected] and they must be in by midnight on May 2.
