The acting Transport Minister Paschal Donohoe has said it would be “a disaster” if he were to get personally involved in the Luas dispute.
Paschal Donohoe said his intervention would completely undermine the mediation process.
Operator Transdev placed all Luas staff on protective notice this week and warned of pay cuts if strikes continue.
With no resolution in sight, Paschal Donohoe said his intervention would not help.
“It would be a disaster because with one single move it would undermine all the institutions and organisations we have in place for dealing with industrial relations,” he said.
“The institutions we have were set up by government and I will be supporting them.”
