Two men have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery of a Wexford post office.

The outlet in Courtown was raided at about 4.20pm yesterday afternoon by two men believed to be carrying a firearm.

Following a struggle with a female member of staff, they removed a cash drawer and stole a small quantity of cash.

Gardaí arrested one man a short distance from the scene and a firearm was recovered, a second man was arrested a short time later.

The men are currently detained under Section 30 of The Offences against the State Act.
