Cork City were deserving 2-0 winners over Shamrock Rovers at Turners Cross in the Airtricity League Premier Division.
The Hoops never recovered from conceding after just 26 seconds as Cork move up to third in the table.
The Leesiders have made a habit out of scoring early goals this season and they were on the scoreboard inside the opening minute when Steven Beattie scored after racing onto Greg Bolger’s long pass.
And the home side doubled their lead in the 13th minute when Karl Sheppard fired home a rebound to seal a comfortable win.
Beattie: "John talked all week about starting fast, so it shows we were listening! Massive three points and roll on Friday."
