Ryanair has been forced to cancel four flights into and out of Dublin as a result of today’s strike by Air traffic controllers in France.

The Irish airline wants the European Commission to intervene and says its wrong a French union can cause such major travel disruption across Europe.

This is the 44th time in seven years French air traffic controllers have gone on strike.

Ryanair’s spokesperson Robin Kiely has said passengers should check online to ensure their flight is still going ahead: “It’s ridiculous at this stage this is the 44th air traffic control strike by French air traffic controllers since 2009 and indeed the fourth in the last six weeks.

“It is high time the French Government and the European Commission took action to prevent further strikes, otherwise we could be facing a summer of discontent for both customers and airlines.”
