An average of three people die on our roads each year over the May Bank Holiday weekend.
The Road Safety Authority is warning drivers to slow down and never, ever drink and drive.
The authority is also teaming up with Applegreen to provide free cups of coffee to drivers today to help fight fatigue.
Brian Farrell from the Road Safety Authority appealed to drivers to observe the basics of good driving. He said: “An average of three die every May Bank Holiday, and seven are seriously injured.
“Yeah, have fun and enjoy the weekend – just remember the basics to slow down, drive at a speed that’s appropriate to the conditions and don’t drink and drive. It’s just not worth the risk.”
