Bayern Munich will have to wait at least another week before being crowned Bundesliga champions after their advantage at the top of the league was cut to five points by Borussia Dortmund.
Bayern needed to beat Borussia Monchengladbach to win the Bundesliga for the 25th time, but Andre Hahn cancelled out Thomas Muller’s opener to earn the Foals a 1-1 draw.
That would nevertheless have been enough for Bayern had Dortmund failed to match it against Wolfsburg, but they did even better than that in a one-sided fixture at the Westfalenstadion.
Shinji Kagawa, Adrian Ramos and Marco Reus put Thomas Tuchel’s men on their way to a comfortable 5-1 victory, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang coming off the bench to add two more for the Westphalians.
Andre Schurrle scored a late consolation, but the result means Wolfsburg cannot now qualify for Europe next season while Dortmund can theoretically still win the title.
They are five points behind Bayern with just two games of the season remaining.
