A 19-year-old man has been shot in the leg in the New Lodge area of north Belfast.

The shooting happened in the early hours of this morning.

Police in the North received a report that the victim had been assaulted by a number of men.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries.

The PSNI are appealing for information.
