Acting Finance Minister Michael Noonan has said that the country is at a “tipping point” for the homeless crisis.

Michael Noonan says that if 1,500 houses were built in Dublin, there would not be a crisis.

The Minister also said that the Government is considering tax breaks for home buyers rather than VAT cuts for the construction industry.

“If you look at it, it’s like a lot of things in life, it’s a supply and demand problem, to get back to that equation,” he said.

“And there’s a tipping point in it, and there’s a tipping point in it where a thousand houses short, or and thousand extra houses can drive you from crisis into surplus.”
