€4m worth of illegal cigarettes have been seized at Dublin port today.

They were hidden in a 45 foot container which had arrived from Rotterdam and was labeled as carrying tractor parts.

Revenue officers and detector dog Casey made the seizure after the haul was discovered by an x-ray scan.

In all nine million cigarettes were seized with a retail value said to be in excess of €4.6m.
