A three-year-old boy from Donegal has died while visiting his grandparents in Latvia.

The boy, who was from Buncrana, is understood to have drowned last week while visiting his maternal grandparents in the town of Cesis.

His parents have lived in Buncrana for a number of years.

The little boy will be laid to rest in Latvia.

The Department of Foreign Affairs say it has not received any request for consular assistance.
