Equality campaigners claim Dublin is witnessing a surge in racially motivated violence.

The warning follows an attack on an Afghan family in the Rathfarnahm area of the city over the weekend which left three people in hospital.

Interfaith organisation the Three Faiths Forum of Ireland is organising a meeting tonight to discuss how to improve racial integration here.

Spokesperson of the forum Siraj Zaidi has called the attacks “quite disturbing”.

“What we are witnessing is an increasing rising element of racially motivated attacks and unprovoked attacks,” said Zaidi.

“Simply on the basis on the visual appearance of an individual or a family and that is quite disturbing.”
