Children’s Minister Katherine Zappone has said that a Commission of Investigation into allegations of abuse at a foster home in the South East will go ahead.
However, Minister Zappone said that the terms of reference still need to be decided and the Cabinet will discuss it tomorrow.
It comes following several cases of sexual abuse allegations against carers.
In at least two cases the victim was left in the home despite concerns being raised.
Minister Zappone denied that this was because of a breakdown in communications between children’s agency Tusla and the HSE.
“I think there is communication going on,” she said.
“So after that I would need to wait to hear the full report, but I know that we’ve been looking at it, HSE has been looking at it, I think they have already talked and so hopefully that will lead to a good resolution of this particular case.”
