ORGANISERS OF the eighth annual Wexford Food and Wine Festival have released details of the planned celebrations and are expecting upwards of 20,000 visitors to the town over the course of weekend.
The festival runs from Friday, May 27 until Sunday, May 29, and events will be taking place in various venues across the town along with an alfresco market.
In total, over 20 events will take place over the course of the three days, each celebrating the county’s superb and thriving food scene. They include everything from foraging trips to The Raven, a Food Rescue demonstration in the Arts Centre, beekeepers in Selskar and much more.
To add to the festival atmosphere a tasty side helping of family entertainment will also be provided with a foodie photo competition, ‘Live Mic’ entertainment in both South Main Street and Selskar, and much more.
Commenting on the upcoming weekend, one of the Festival organisers Gary Johnston said: “The 2016 festival will showcase the very best food that the South-East has to offer including Wexford’s famed Strawberry. We are expecting large crowds somewhere upwards of 20,000 people; the festival has been growing every year.”
