“Everything’s great” was the simple message that Dana White was pushing today, writes Stephen Barry.
Conor McGregor and the UFC President talk every day, he said on the Dan Patrick Show, and the pair will meet up next week to discuss options for the future, with a UFC 202 rematch between McGregor and Nate Diaz looking like a frontrunner.
White’s word has been generally accurate throughout a stormy past month, in which McGregor wrongly claimed to be back on the UFC 200 card and flirted with the possibility of a fight with retired boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr.

However a Diaz rematch would be contrary to White’s initial view that McGregor’s next step after missing UFC 200 should be a defence of his featherweight belt against the winner of Jose Aldo’s clash with Frankie Edgar.
McGregor hasn’t given a single interview since his ‘retirement’, which may be as expected given that the initial falling out was over media duties.
However he has remained in constant contact with the UFC, according to White.
“Conor and I have been talking every day,” said White.
“We’re going to have dinner next week, our relationship is great and we’re going to put the little speed-bump in the road that happened behind us and move forward.
“Everything’s great.”
