The Department of Health is examining the case of a 19-year-old woman with disabilities who was allegedly left in the care of a foster home in the south of the country after allegations of abuse were made about a carer there.
The Department of Health and the Department of Children are to meet with the HSE and the child and family agency TUSLA this week.
The Minister with responsibility for disability, Finian McGrath, had called for the terms of the Commission of Investigation concerning ‘Grace’ – a girl in the South-East – to be expanded to include this most recent case.
However, the Department of Health said it would be premature to make any decision until the facts of the case have been clearly established, but Minister of State McGrath “is being kept fully appraised of developments”.
